Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here! Starting this blog feels a little like handing out snacks at a kids’ sports practice—equal parts exciting, nerve-wracking, and “I really hope you like this.”

I’m Cheryl Wiehn, founder of Brown Dog Bookkeeping and proud mom of three boys (two in college, one in high school who pretends she doesn’t know me when I cheer too loudly at his football games). After years of running numbers, running carpools, and running on caffeine, I decided to build a business where I could help other women feel confident—not confused—about their finances.

Why Brown Dog Bookkeeping Exists

Here’s the real talk: Women are often told we “aren’t numbers people,” and honestly? That’s garbage. You can understand your numbers. You can run a thriving business. And you absolutely deserve support from someone who explains things without jargon, judgment, or side-eye.

I started this company to empower busy moms, creatives, and small-business owners who are building big dreams between school drop-off, client calls, and that never-ending pile of laundry.

Numbers don’t have to be scary. They don’t even have to be boring (I mean, I make bookkeeping puns for fun—clearly I’m committed).
