I don’t file taxes. I prefer to spend my time keeping a close eye on your numbers day in and day out so I can help you make smart money decisions all throughout the year….not just at tax time. By keeping on top of the numbers in real time I’ll have financial reports buttoned up and ready to hand over to your tax professional to make tax filing a breeze.

Do you file taxes?

Your CPA and bookkeeper are a match made in heaven. Kind of like peanut butter and jelly. Yes, you could just have a peanut butter sandwich, but let’s be real it’s definitely better with jelly! Same with CPA. Could you get away with just having a CPA? Yes, but we’re definitely better together. A CPA’s primary function is keeping your business tax compliant when filing taxes. That means they are primarily just in your books one time a year. I’m in your bookkeeping day after day and month after month so I can provide real time numbers and reports so you can make strong financial decisions when you need to make them, not months after it’s too late!

What’s the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant/CPA? Do I need both of you?

This is tricky. There’s no one size fits all answer to when it’s time to hire a bookkeeper. However, a general rule of thumb is if bookkeeping keeps falling to the bottom of the to-do list and never actually gets done, or if you are just so confused and not sure what your numbers are telling you, or if you just can’t bear the thought of another beautiful weekend spent closed away entering numbers into a computer it’s time to at least have a chat to see how I can help take that mental stress off of your shoulders.

I’m still not sure I’m ready to hire a bookkeeper. What are some things that would help me decide?

FAQs

I’m a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor so I definitely use Quickbooks for many clients. Additionally, I work with Xero for clients already using or looking for an alternative to Quickbooks. There are varying levels of each software available, so we can discuss which one would be the best fit for you.

What accounting software do you use?

I bet the process is simpler than what you’re thinking! There will be an initial onboarding process of collecting all the necessary documents, but from that point on I’ll just need some way of getting any monthly bank, credit card and/or loan statements. That can either be done by you sending the statements to me or providing me read only access to your accounts. Whichever option you’re more comfortable with!

How does this process work? What type of information will you need from me to do my bookkeeping?
